      • How dogs learn, motivation, and understanding the “why” of your dogs behavior
      • Dog body language and communication

Exploring Your Feisty Fido - A Dog Behavior Workshop for Pet Parents

      04/25/2014 - 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

Understanding, Managing, & Training Your Feisty Fido

Sponsored by our local non-profit animal advocacy group C.A.R.E.4Paws!

Designed for the willful and spirited dog that needs dedicated guidance and direction when on leash, this 75-minute course for humans only will help teach you the skills to manage your “feisty fido” while rehabilitating your dog’s relationship with the everyday world.

This smaller more intimate class focuses on empowering you with a better understanding of the dynamic nature of your dog so you can effectively identify conditions that arouse concern, uncertainty, and frustration, and help your dog build the confidence to overcome challenging situations.

The goal of this class is to change your dog’s perception of the world—including people and other dogs. By helping your dog develop good associations with the surrounding environment, you can modify “feisty” on-leash habits like barking, lunging, and other behaviors that may appear to be “aggressive.”

Identifying the conditions that are likely to cause your dog to act defensively, fearful, or just plain irritable, will enable you to help your dog develop a happy relationship with your daily surroundings. And by rehabilitating your dog’s relationship with the world, you will be consequently enhancing your relationship with one another.

This in-depth workshop consists of lecture, discussion, planning worksheets, and time for Q&A. Main topics include:

      • The “how & why” of your dogs behavior
      • Interpreting your dog’s body language and communication
      • Behavior specifics including leash reactivity towards other dogs and people
      • Techniques you can use to get more or less of the behaviors you want

      Additional information:

      • Cost: $12.00/pp, $20.00/couple, free for animal shelter volunteer. This is a fundraising event! All proceeds go directly to C.A.R.E.4Paws!
