November 2020, Inquisitive Canine founder, certified professional canine behavior consultant, business coach to dog trainers, and sought after public speaker Joan Hunter Mayer, will be presenting a webinar at the Pet Professional Guild’s virtual summit, Geek Week: For the Love of Science.
Geek Week, the week of November 11-15, 2020 is, according to the event’s website, “the ultimate virtual event for professionals working in the fields of pet care, animal behavior and training, as well as for guardians who want to learn more about their pets!” The site promises, “over 100 great sessions, delivered by 85 world class presenters” available on a virtual platform, around the clock -for five days- to suit all time zones.
Joan Hunter Mayer, who not only owns and operates the Inquisitive Canine, is also founder and owner of its sister company, TransPaw Gear and inventor of the Happy Harness. She holds an MBA from Antioch University Santa Barbara and was invited by Geek Week organizers to present at the international virtual summit this year. Her presentation is entitled Business Planning Basics: Tapping into Your Entrepreneurial Talents.
For more than a decade, Mayer has been helping humans and canines alike with pawsitive, practical solutions to everyday challenges using humane, proven approaches to dog training. And that is how she became involved with the Pet Professional Guild (PPG), an organization that represents pet industry professionals who, “Say No to Shock, Prong, Choke, Pain, Force & Fear” and are committed to results based, science based, ethical training and pet care.
The Pet Professional Guild has partnered with six other organizations to bring their members, as well as the general public, next month’s virtual educational event. Despite the name however, it is not necessary to be a dog geek or animal behavior geek to register for Geek Week. For instance, Mayer says of her scheduled presentation, “Being that this webinar is business planning focused, I’d say those who are looking to start a business, established business owners who might be interested in getting motivated to revamp their businesses, small business owners and business nerds could all benefit. I will often use dog-related businesses as examples though.” Mayer is planning to offer a simple, practical, functional approach to business planning for anyone who has a passion for creating change, has a creative solution to an existing problem or just wants to help people with a new business idea or product.
