Pet Loss and Grief Support
The passing of a companion animal can be one of the most profound and disorienting losses a person experiences. Our pets shape our routines, our homes, our identity, and our sense of connection. When they die, the absence can be felt everywhere—emotionally, physically, and relationally.
This space exists to honor that bond and to support you as you navigate grief in ways that feel steady, respectful, and true to your experience.
Walking With You Through Grief
My role is to walk alongside you as you navigate life after loss—not to “fix” your grief or rush the process. As a certified coach with specialized training in grief and pet loss, I offer compassionate presence, thoughtful questions, and practical support. Sessions focus on listening, creating meaning, and helping you integrate grief into a life that continues, whether you feel heartbroken, numb, relieved, or confused.
Support here meets you where you are—whether you arrive with many words, very few, or none at all.
When you’re ready, you’re welcome to contact me directly to schedule a complimentary discovery call as a first step in exploring grief support together.
Understanding Grief
Grief is a natural response to loss, reflecting the depth of love and connection that existed. It can touch emotions, thoughts, energy levels, routines, relationships, and one’s sense of identity. Grief often unfolds over time and may change in intensity or expression from day to day.
Rather than moving in a straight line, grief tends to ebb and flow. Moments of sadness, anger, guilt, longing, gratitude, confusion, or even relief can coexist. This variability is part of how grief works, not a sign of progress or setback.
Pet loss grief can feel especially isolating when the depth of the bond is not fully recognized by others. Here, that bond is acknowledged and respected.
You’re welcome to Get in touch to schedule a complimentary discovery call— a gentle first conversation to see if this support feels like a good fit.
Mourning as a Pathway Through Grief
Grief lives internally; mourning is how it is expressed.
Mourning creates opportunities to acknowledge the reality of the loss, honor the relationship that mattered, and gradually integrate the bond into ongoing life. Through reflection, conversation, ritual, and meaning-making, grief is given room to move and soften over time, while you build strength to carry it.
There is no single way to mourn. Each grief journey is like a snowflake — different and unique in its own way. Support focuses on helping you discover expressions of grief that feel authentic and supportive to you.
Forms of Pet Loss
People seek pet loss support for a wide range of experiences, including:
- Anticipatory grief before an expected loss
- Complex emotions surrounding end-of-life decisions
- Sudden or traumatic loss
- Shifts in daily routine, identity, or sense of purpose after caregiving ends
- Lingering grief months or years after a loss
- Feeling disconnected from others who may not understand the depth of the relationship
All of these experiences fall within the natural landscape of grief.

Ways I Can Support You
Support is collaborative, individualized, and paced to your needs. Offerings may include:
- One-on-one pet loss grief support – private sessions centered on listening, reflection, and meaning-making
- Anticipatory grief support – space to prepare emotionally and practically before a planned goodbye
- Legacy and meaning work – honoring the story, bond, and continuing connection with your animal
- Grounding and reflection practices – gentle tools to support emotional regulation and daily life between sessions
- Small group support offerings – when available, providing shared connection and reduced isolation
Sessions welcome conversation, reflection, and quiet moments alike.
Scope of Support
I provide grief-informed, non-clinical support centered on compassionate presence and reflection rather than diagnosis or treatment. For some, grief may also involve mental health challenges that are best supported by a licensed professional. If we determine that additional care would be helpful, I’m happy to offer mental health resources and support you in identifying options that feel appropriate.
